About Deshpande Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship

Deshpande Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship (DCSE) actively promotes social entrepreneurship by hosting, supporting and guiding dynamic individuals dedicated to generating innovative, scalable ideas, specifically in North Karnataka region. DSCE seeks to provide students an opportunity to fully understand and embrace the concept of Social Entrepreneurship and pursue it with zeal, hence DCSE offers number of course options to instructors interested in teaching students how to make significant contributions to their communities through social entrepreneurship.

IT Training program

On 9^th April 2010, Mr. Sunil Patil from DCSE, organised a IT training program at Belgaum Institute of management Studies. He trained all the members of E-cell on Facebook, Google group and Blog creation. The training was very interactive and helped the E-cell members to have a hands-on experience on Blog, Facebook and Google group creation.

Ms. Genny King also accompanied Mr. Patil on this occasion and enlightened the students on the benefits of being a E-cell member.

Meeting with ‘DESH’ at Hubli

Seventeen members of BIMS E-cell along with the Dr. Anilkumar G Garag, Director-BIMS and Ms. Shreedevi Shintri, Faculty coordinator for DCSE met Mr. Gururaj Deshpande on 12th April 2010 at Deshpande Foundation, BVB Campus, Hubli.
The programme was attended by 6 other colleges associated with DCSE, namely – BET’s GBS, Belgaum, IMER, Belgaum, GBS, Hubli, KLE IMSR, Hubli, JSS IMSR, Dharwad and KIMS, Dharwad

Mr. Deshpande emphasized on the qualities of Manager, Leader and Entrepreneur and explained the difference between them. He emphasized on the need for Social entrepreneurship for the development of the society and also encouraged the e-cell members to come up with new ideas to startup small businesses which DCSE is already implementing to the associated E-Cells of various colleges in the form of ‘2K programs’. He interacted with the E-Cell members and shared his personal experiences.

He also distributed prizes to the winners of 2K program of various colleges.

Later Mr. Deshpande interacted with the Directors and the faculty coordinators and discussed on how to make Social Entrepreneurship more interesting and interactive. Mr. Deshpande encouraged the faculty members to develop case studies, which would foster talent building and knowledge about the local entrepreneurial activities.

Inauguration of Envision (BIMS-E Cell)

BIMS organized inauguration of Envision, the E Cell of BIMS on 13^th April, 2010. Mr. Mukesh Chowdhary, Director Riddhi Siddhi Glucobiols Pvt ltd

Mr. Navin Jha, Director DCSE, Ms. Genny King, Coordinator DCSE, Mr. Abu Sheikh, Managing Trustee PES & T and Dr. Anilkumar Garag, Director BIMS (MBA) inaugurated the E Cell.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mukesh Chowdhary, Director, Riddhi Siddhi Glucobiols Pvt ltd encouraged the students to take risk and develop entrepreneurial abilities.

Mr. Navin Jha, Director DCSE thrilled the audience with his experience on entrepreneurship and enlightened the students on social entrepreneurship.

Dr. Anilkumar Garag, Director BIMS (MBA) and also an entrepreneur himself spoke on how to make a business successfully run on its own.

Mr. Abu Sheikh, Managing Trustee PES & T gave the presidential remarks.

Later the Envision (BIMS E-Cell) was inaugurated at the ground floor of the college building of BIMS (MBA).
